What Exactly Is VR Therapy, and How Does It Differ From Traditional Methods?
1:28
Lesson summary
VRET is an extension of traditional models such as CBT, exposure therapy and mindfulness. Exposure therapy is highly evidence-based but limited by how you access valuable exposure scenarios in a prolonged, repeated and safe way. VR lets you access situations you couldn't stage in real life, and deliver them repeatedly, at length, in a structured and controlled setting.
Key learning points
- An extension of CBT, exposure and mindfulness
- Overcomes access limits of traditional exposure
