Delivering VR Exposure TherapyLesson 11 of 32
What Does a Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy Session Look Like?
2:30
Lesson summary
A typical session starts by revisiting the rationale for exposure and explaining where VR fits in the client's hierarchy. Remind clients of the breathing, relaxation and cognitive-restructuring skills they've practised and have them use those skills inside the VR scenario, keeping real-world goals front of mind so gains transfer — then mirror progress with matching VR or in-vivo homework.
Key learning points
- Reiterate the rationale and set the scene
- Practise transferable skills inside VR
- Mirror gains with in-vivo or VR homework
